Dear America: The Series

Spring 2000 Television
Ages: 7 - 13 yrs.
Review:
History told through a series can be so silly or so boring. Not this time. The Dear America series uses appealing courageous young characters and well-written stories to show a point in time – pilgrims in the new world, an immigrant Jewish family in New York’s Lower east side, and even Cleopatra – and make it matter. Young viewers will realize there were real people who had to face the hardships that they only read about in books. Diversity, bravery, the arts, friendship, all kinds of themes are explored while re-living history. An excellent series that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
