Spring 2019 Television
Ages: Infant - 5 yrs.

Rating: TV Y

As we all well know from the charming children's book series, wonderful things can happen If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Thanks to the sweetly animated series based on those books, children get to see Mouse, Pig, Moose, Dog, and Cat engaged in delightful "if/then" adventures. Each half-hour episode includes two separate storylines with plots that have loosely related themes.

In the episode "Treasure Hunt," Dog enlists his pals to follow a treasure map. Clues require some brainpower and at the end, the definition of "treasure" is nicely interpreted to focus on friendship. The second story follows Dog again, this time as he plans, with increasing grandeur, a special gift for human pal Henry.

In "Recycle Races," Mouse learns about recycling and discovers that reclaimed materials can be turned into exciting new playthings. In "Change is Good," Mouse upcycles a plastic bottle to use as a bank, but saving up for a coveted toy poses a tricky dilemma.

And, in "Sledding Adventures/Snowy Sleepover," snow poses many if/then possibilities. First, Mouse and human pal Oliver cope with a case of nerves when it comes to sledding down a steep hill. In the second episode, a sudden power outage turns a sleepover into an opportunity to find creative ways to stay entertained.

Sweet songs and heartfelt lessons make this series a playful and age appropriate basis for conversations about actions and consequences, as Mouse and pals so frequently - and comically - find out for themselves.
