Review:

Two children are wandering in the woods when they discover a decrepit old house. They climb though a missing window to explore. They wonder about the people who once lived there and why they left toys and photographs behind, and why the bed was made. The children are not afraid, they're curious. Nevertheless, after exploring and climbing back out of the window, they are happy to get back to the house they call home.

With an imaginative, rhyming text and mixed media illustrations, both the author and the illustrator convey a deserted house that is mysterious but not frightening. The vague outlines that are loosely overprinted in muted autumnal shades are indeed beautiful.
