Hand in Hand
Fall 2018 MusicSuzi Shelton's fourth children's music album, co-produced by two of her band mates, Greg Mayo (Jon Bon Jovi, Blood, Sweat & Tears) and Dan Weiner (STOMP, America's Got Talent Band) contains nine little eclectic pop tunes. "Put Your Hands In The Air," is built around a '90s era U2-style riff, with Shelton's warm voice and friendly chorus pouring honey over all. "Ladybugs" is a great New Orleans, jazzy, mathematical reduction song complete with a sweet horn section, while "Can You Feel The Power?," is a semi-rapped song of self-empowerment. On "Never Let You Go," a ukulele-driven ditty about friendship and commitment, Shelton's singing evokes shades of Melanie and Dar Williams. Surely one of the albums highlights is the delightfully buoyant "The Grass Is Always Greener," sung as a duet with Grammy Award winning Children's Music vocalist Tim Kubart. Catchy melodies rein in "Raindrop" and "River Come Down" while the bluesy "Blue Fin" continues the aquatic theme to observe the innumerable colors of fish in the sea. The album closes with the high stepping beats of "We Shall Walk," a song of unity and peace.
