Monkey Spot Scavenger Hunt by Monkeybar Collective may state that it is for children aged six to eight years, but our whole family was immediately drawn into the app's themed scavenger hunts. The free version of the app includes four scavenger hunts: Out to Eat, I Can See A to Z, Detective Story, and Zoo Adventure. And, additional scavenger hunts can be purchased for $.99 each (e.g., Backyard Nature, Leaf Season, Grocery Store, Look in a Book, etc.) Each scavenger hunt provides ten or more relatively vague clues to guide players in their search; they might have to find something that begins with a certain letter, locate a particular animal, or create a "work of art" out of tabletop items. Once an object has been discovered or a task has been completed, players snap a picture and move onto the next.

Designed for both iPhone and Android users, the smartphone app has excellent long-term play value; the clues are written broadly enough that children can play the same scavenger hunt over and over again in different locations, with different friends, and return different answers. And, once children feel the free versions have been exhausted, additional hunts can be purchased at a low price.
