The Wonderhood Grand Hotel is a 62-piece building and play set comprised of twenty-four double-sided plastic panels, thirty easy-snap connectors, four elevator pieces, one staircase, two figures, and one activity journal with building tips and challenges. The challenges range from building the hotel as high as possible to building it to ensure certain rooms are close to one another.

For example, when building the hotel, they must make sure not to use all the pieces necessary for the gift shop area when building the reception area, and so forth. In this way, they are forced to think not only about the pieces they are currently using, but the pieces they will need later in the construction process.

Although my children initially built the hotel as pictured on the box and as suggested by the building challenges, they eventually began to build the set in new and different ways. Other testers reported that when building a configuration in which the elevator did not fit in as they expected, the children came up with a solution and engineered the building to suit what they had in mind.

And, as with building sets in general, assembling the sets helps to hone fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, problem-solving, and planning. Adding to the product's long-term play value, not to mention appeal, is the fact that children can use the two included figures for hours of imaginative and cooperative play as they create and act out their own stories and scenarios.
