Dr. Seuss's ABC Read & Learn digital book by Oceanhouse Media is a highly interactive, not to mention highly entertaining, ode to the classic book–and to the master himself. The story introduces children to letter names and sounds via humorous, alliterative rhymes about Aunt Annie's alligator, goats wearing goo-goo goggles, and the quick Queen of Quincy.

Each page/screen features a wide variety of interactive characters and objects; by exploring the pages and manipulating the objects, children uncover hidden alphabet-themed activities. For example, children may be asked to find all the "big As," make letter matches, or choose the object that starts with a particular letter. These short and intuitively playful activities give children time to practice important early reading skills.

Oceanhouse Media offers its trademark three reading modes: Read to Me, Read It Myself, and Autoplay. In each of these modes, children can interact with and manipulate most of the objects on the page. They can also hear and see the word for each object by tapping on it. In Read to Me mode, the story is narrated to the children with each word highlighted as it is read. And, children can remain on each page as long as they like. In Read It Myself mode, children read and explore independently and at their own pace. They can tap on any word to have it read to them. Finally, in Autoplay, the story is narrated to the children and pages turned at a steady pace. Highlighting words as they are read helps children make the connection between the written word and the spoken word. Speaking and showing the written word for selected objects makes connections between the written word, the spoken word, and the object they represent. All of these are critical pre-reading and early-reading skills. Parents interested in monitoring their children's progress can track Minutes Read, Pages Read, and Book Read (how many times the book is completed).
