Atomidoodle is a clever puzzle path game where players create elements by splitting, joining, and re-routing the correct number of atoms. The hand-drawn sketches work well as the graphics theme, bringing a nice simplicity to something that is usually thought of as advanced and complicated.

The game guides learners to the periodic table gradually, letting them start by joining atoms or splitting them to create the "early" elements. By dragging and tapping, the player creates the correct path for atoms go through a splitter, or through a joining widget, to eventually create an element. As players build each element, they see it unlocked on the periodic table, with basic facts given, offered throughout gameplay about how the element is used.

Although my 8 year old struggled with the rate at which the game increased difficulty, and my 6th grader lost interest after a few rounds, this engaging tool will resonate best with learners who have had a basic introduction to chemistry. For middle-schoolers and above ready to expand their knowledge to atomic mass and build familiarity with the periodic table, Atomidoodle will make a lasting impact.
