First and foremost, Solutionaires is ambitious. It's a collaboration of many artists, writers and educators. It's richly illustrated, with varying levels of interactivity. It's a robust and ambitious learning environment - about the environment.

Based on SOLE (student organized learning environment model of education), the driving force in this experience is questions. The app's narrative is about 10 year old Lily living in England who wants to solve the riddle of the Dartmoor Warbler. She finds her storybox and realizes that her interest in saving songbirds is part of a bigger story.

Young reader/players are challenged and given clues to identify seven individuals who have taken action to solve climate change. Their names are not revealed in the app, but to be discovered through shared resources collected on the creators' website. However, that is only a part of the challenge. The real work is finding answers to the three "Big Questions." 1) What are the possible solutions to climate change? 2) Why is the world focused on the problem of climate change and not the solutions? 3) Which climate change solutions could, if implemented, save our world?

Players are prompted to share their ideas and research though various channels online - although there are no directs links to do so from within the app.
