Dimension
Spring 2015 GamesThis three-dimensional game is fast and pretty mind-bending. Each player (up to four) gets a "tray" and 15 jaw-breaker sized spheres of various colors-three black, three blue, three orange, three white and three green. Players are dealt a hand of "task cards" and then they simultaneously try to position and stack their spheres on their tray as prescribed by the task cards (tasks like no two black spheres touching each other; white spheres cannot touch green ones; black and blue must touch; blue must not bump against white). Players earn points for each ball used. Use all five colors correctly and get bonus points. Incomplete tasks or stacking them wrong cost points.
This is all done under the pressure of an hourglass sand timer, so following instructions and using logic under the clock is what wins. But what's best about this new puzzle game is its clever innovation and design. In the world of so many more-of-the-same and knockoff games, Dimension stacks up nicely.
