Ding Dong! Gorilla!
Fall 2013 Picture BooksThe young narrator of this story has a serious dilemma. Someone has eaten all the pizza his parents or guardians ordered. It wasn't him, though. It was the gorilla who rang the doorbell! The gorilla has also broken a window, and colored on the walls, and made a big mess…but then he left before anyone else saw him (of course he did!). So how can the narrator ever convince the grownups that it was the gorilla who caused all the trouble?
This bad-boy (oops, I meant bad-gorilla) romp of a story will give young readers and their grownups a good, satisfying giggle. The vividly colored crayon illustrations support the narrator's complete innocence as they show the gorilla wreaking over-the-top havoc on the house; younger readers will simply enjoy the vicarious mess and mayhem, and older readers may begin to laugh at the suspicion that the narrator may have made the whole story up to defend himself. The narrator's voice and the drawings work together wonderfully in a book that will surely be re-read many times.
