Motors & Generators
Spring 2013 ToysThis solid kit gives learners a great introduction to electronic motors. The full color guide offers specific activities learners can follow to build lights, circuits and conduct simple experiments (such as the effect of magnets on electronics). The clear pictures and text do a nice job of showing each step, and explaining what is happening.
We pulled it out and started with the guide, and our 8-year-old tester was happy to just explore on his own and see what he could build. The activities would be great to do as a family, or with a small group of learners, one at a time. They are fairly structured, and give very clear specifics.
Motors & Generators is a great science kit for classrooms or guided learning environments, or for the self-directed learner. The beautiful enclosed book offers 25 different experiments that can be conducted with the simple motor and gears included. With the accessible price, it makes an easy-to-afford option for introducing learners to basic mechanics.
