Review:

Like Shoe the Goose's other apps, Mask Doodle inspires children's creativity by giving them countless artistic tools to use within the structure of a specific project. In this case, it's mask-making. Children choose a template for their mask from five categories: Animals, Monsters, Half Masks, Robots, and People. Each of these categories has up to fifteen mask shapes from which to choose, and the details of each shape can be changed, too.

Next comes the really fun part. Mask Doodle contains a rich palette of colors and textures (scales, leopard print, and shaggy fur), and a full set of fancy brushes with which to apply them. There is a basic paintbrush along with experimental options like a toothbrush, bubble wand, and slingshot for applying paint. For more fun, children can add text or "jazz," including stickers and jewels, to their mask.

The finished image of a mask can be saved, shared, and printed from the in-app options. Ambitious mask makers may wish to use their digital creation as a template for creating a real life mask from jewels, faux fur, paint, and whatever else they might find at the craft store.
