Review:

Cat Doorman, aka artist and indie musician/singer Julianna Bright, serves up 14 songs with off-the-wall wit, a rich vocabulary and an odd and appealing family-friendly sensibility all her own. "So Many Words" isn't your usual alphabet song ("M for Mitochondria, N for Nocturnal, "O for Ovoid, P for Paleolithic, "Q for Quagmire"). A warm ukulele plink sets the playful mood in "Let's Get Dressed Up" ("Throw on a sash, we'll have a bash as we dance the day away"). "Lonely Girl" floats toward a tender reminder that although "yours is a timorous lot...Please recall you can sing and the itch at your back is the beat of your wings and they'll carry you forward to wonderful things." With interesting verbal and musical twists, Doorman sings of love and life, of strength, standing tall and finding one's unique path. Although the recommended age range given is 3 to 9, this intriguing CD holds rewards for all ages.
