Review:

Thomas & Friends: Blue Mountain Mystery-The Movie is a new hour-long feature demonstrating, once again, that friendship, trust and teamwork can solve even the most difficult of problems.

When an accident damages a bridge at the Blue Mountain Quarry, Thomas is honored to be chosen to help with repairs. He arrives to find a mysterious green engine hiding among his friends. No one is willing to answer Thomas's questions about the engine's identity. Thomas does some sleuthing and discovers the little engine is plagued by a troublesome secret and, filled with concern, Thomas resolves to help his new friend overcome the problems from his past.

What follows is an age-appropriate story about rumors, misunderstandings, and challenges that test a friendship. Blue Mountain Mystery includes some flashback scenes and detailed exposition to explain the mystery elements, yet the plot isn't overly complex. Young elementary-aged viewers and even older preschoolers will be able to grasp the storyline and understand the theme of compassion and the importance of not jumping to conclusions. Young viewers also will enjoy the visually interesting quarry setting, and action scenes that are gripping but not so tense that they're scary.

Thomas products never stray too far from the familiar formula exploring themes of friendship and teamwork but thanks to sympathetic characters and thought-provoking plot scenarios, Thomas & Friends: Blue Mountain Mystery-The Movie feels fresh, delivering a satisfying dose of entertainment along with its valuable lesson in character education.
