In a near perfect transformation from physical to virtual, StoryBox magazine comes to life on the iPad. With many of the same content and features, this app uses the technology well. With the swipe of a finger, the page is turned; a touch yields an audible explanation, and in some cases, a surprise is revealed.

The How About A Mooh? story can be read aloud by mum or dad, or the kindly sounding narrator. Or, choose to record one's own voice to read the story; a nice feature for parents who travel or grannies who live far away. This successful transition from print to touch screen includes science questions and answers, animal facts, games, and a "save" function for drawings created. Polo, an adventure without words, is a tantalizing treasure for pre and accomplished readers. Illustrations, provided in sequence, are ready and waiting to be given a story. The record and playback buttons are here too. We'll look forward to seeing what new tip-of-the finger magic StoryBox has in store.
