Lobster Puppet
Spring 2011 ToysConstructed with striking appeal and accuracy, this puppet closely resembles an actual lobster in both appearance and functionality. It has pincher and crusher claws (each with finger openings for puppeteers), along with lifelike antenna, swimmerets, tail fins, antenna, and eight tiny walking legs. The mouth openings can be manipulated with two fingers, and the more dexterous children (with a few minutes of four-finger practice) can navigate both of the claws and the mouth at the same time. The puppet's product tag provides several interesting facts about lobsters, along with an interesting example of "lobster lore." This puppet character could be used for teaching science information as well as language arts skills via story connections.
