The Penguins of Madagascar
Spring 2011 TelevisionThe stars of this show are four crazy penguins named Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private who are living in the Central Park Zoo.
Inevitably, they get into some kind of jam, and wind up using teamwork to solve the problem. There is a minimal amount of mishap and violence in a slapstick kind of way because the penguins think they are a commando unit, so your kids might wind up emulating that. But even though they can be silly, they aren't mean and they always wind up putting forth a good message.
For example, in one episode the pressure of competing gets to one penguin, who recognizes that his behavior becomes "snippety" when he is forced to a play an intense minigolf game. In the end, he does his best and wins. For kids today who are involved in many competitive activities, the episode proves that one needs to be able to recognize one's own behaviors and cope with them.
If your children really want to watch cartoons, this one is worth seeing.
