HERMIT CRAB puppet
Fall 2010 ToysThe strikingly authentic appearance of this hermit crab puppet heightens its appeal and beckons users to engage in endless play (as well as a fun science lesson). The specially designed fabric for the body and the softly padded outer shell both closely resemble an actual crab. The hand insertion area for the puppeteer offers seven finger choices: one for the mouth/head area, and six separate openings for the claws. Additionally, tiny fingers could almost enter the eyestalks and twist them (to mock the behaviors of hermit crabs), and the antenna can be coaxed to bobble. The puppet construction allows the body of the crab to be pulled into its shell. With very little practice, children can manipulate this creature to mimic a crab's actual stance and stride. Facts about hermit crabs and a related story are clipped to the side. This will easily become a favorite toy and an enthralling learning tool.
