Zolo Blanko is a set of black-and-white building pieces in crazy shapes and patterns. Contemporary and silly like other Zolo building sets, they can be assembled to make bizarre structures and fantastic creatures. The Zolo Blanko pieces are compatible with other Zolo sets. These are unique, however, in that they act as a blank canvas: they can be colored, temporarily or permanently, with any children's art supplies. We tried chalk pastels, markers, and washable paints, to very good effect, though we found that even washable marker should not be left on overnight (but a bit of bleach took care of the residual staining) if the effect is intended to be temporary. Like Legos and building blocks, these toys offer long-term constructive play value; all of our testers wanted playing time, and the oldest ones in particular enjoyed the ability to paint the creations.
