The game starts with the roll of a die that determines the key number for the entire game.

All players draw eight tiles from the bag and turn them face up where everyone can see them. Players collect points by arranging numbered tiles in a crossword style pattern, so that each row and column adds up to a multiple of the key number. For example, if the key number is 4, the tiles in each completed row or column must add up to 8, 12, 16, 20, etc. Everyone contributes to one common crossword-style pattern in the middle of the playing area. A player who adds to (or links to) an existing combination scores the existing numbers as well as the newly added ones. This is a strategic play to attempt. After each turn, players replenish their used tiles to keep the number they hold at eight. The tiles come in six colors, none of which can be repeated in a row or column, though a number may be repeated.

Four additional game variations are offered, including team play and solo play.
