Hydro Power
Fall 2009 ToysReview:
Hydropower is an excellent science kit that focuses on energy from water. It consists of a 34-page instruction manual and almost all materials (tape, scissors, water bottles, and water come from home) necessary to complete six workshop/building projects and eight experiments. Topics covered include: building a water wheel and using water energy to do work; water pressure; generating electricity with hydroelectric plants; and capturing energy from ocean currents and waves.
This experimental kit shows that many things come full circle: the ancient use of the water wheel is not all that different from today's exploring hydropower as a renewable energy source.
