The 48-page experiment manual teaches users how to set up and use the microscope, and offers prepared slides to help users become familiar and comfortable not only with the scope's abilities but perhaps more importantly, how to "read" what's on the slides. Prepared slides include pollen grains, sodium chloride crystals, oral mucous membrane cells and the ever-popular paramecia. Five blank slides, tweezers, pipette dissecting needle, stains, a covered Petri dish and more are included.

Although novice observers initially may require adult assistance to help set the focus and position the sample, this is a fine choice for youngsters with an interest in science.
