Bob Dylan, one of the greatest songwriters to emerge from the twentieth century, remains a profound influence on musicians of all ages. But say the name Bob Dylan to most children today and you'll likely be met with a blank stare. Happily, this new picture book version of a 1974 song introduces a new generation to Dylan's messages of peace, freedom and social consciousness. The lyrics are simple enough for children yet poetic and profound in their wishes. As Dylan writes: "May you have a strong foundation / When the winds of changes shift," and "May you always know the truth / And see the lights surrounding you." Paul Rogers evokes a cheery 70s aesthetic in his vivid retro illustrations, rendered in ink and acrylic. Rogers plants Dylan-related allusions on each page as well (some obvious and some in need of his helpful explanation at the end of the book), making the book great fun for adult Dylan fans. This is a must-have for parents and grandparents from the Dylan era, and perfect for sharing with the little ones in their lives.
