Little Bill
Fall 2000 TelevisionLittle Bill is an adorable little fellow, and his friends are equally sweet and engaging. This is vintage Bill Cosby family-fare, with ultra-positive messages presented in straightforward ways. It’s a perfect sit-com, and since it’s animated, it allows even more latitude for fun story twists.
One episode follows Little Bill on a trip to the shopping mall to meet his favorite TV character – except he’s a lot bigger in real life than he is on TV, and Little Bill is scared to meet him. Another episode explains what weddings are, and why people get married – with Little Bill chosen as the ring bearer. The only problem is Little Bill hears “Ring Bear” and expects to wear a furry costume and do a lot of growling, and when his mom sets him straight, the alternative of wearing a tuxedo isn’t nearly as exciting.
This show is chock-full of positive ethnic role models, cute storylines, and nice messages like, “If you want to make new friends, you shouldn’t let being scared stop you,” and “If you make a promise you have to keep it.” Young kids will love it, older kids are likely to stick with it, and adults will tune in whether the kids are home or not! Little Bill is a big winner!
