TY the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan
Spring 2006 Video GamesTY gets into all sorts of jams and must battle, race, scrap and survive to save whatever it is he's trying to save—probably the world as we know it. The story line's imaginative enough to carry the action load and so are the villains. This time TY faces off with the Quinkan—a magic boomerang that if not defeated can unleash the Quinking, a legendary (really) ghostly Down-Under supreme ruler of the dark creatures.
The huge side-scrolling environments (desert, jungle, etc.) offer lots of colorful and lively graphics, and the character animation is fluid. Exploring the landscapes of Australia in search of his buddies, the Bush Rescue Squad, TY does all the expected running, jumping, swimming, enemy-thrashing, boss-bashing, obstacle-destroying, ledge jumping, opal-collecting, boomerang-throwing and puzzle-solving.
What's sets this game apart from run-of-the-mill platform games are the “vehicles” TY uses—powerful “bunyips” robots, helicopters, a fighter plane. Be advised, this is not about learning. It is just all for fun and games.
