With his pop-savvy, James Taylor-like tenor, Justin Roberts turns very real childhood experiences-silly and serious-into vibrant tunes and deft lyrics that resonate in adult ears, too, from trying to wheedle a day off from school and imagining a hungry dinosaur, to a room-cleaning that goes a tad too far.

The title track perfectly captures a little bundle of energy's pre-nap supernova phase; in "Moving," a child realizes what it means to leave the oh-so-familiar house and yard; and in "Three Days" a child's refusal to bathe isn't rudeness, but an eloquent desire to preserve three days worth of history that include parental kisses, fake tattos "and the summer breeze." "Last Night the Moon Was Full" is a lullaby highlight and so is "Dad Caught the Stars," warmed with love and a child's wide-eyed enchantment: the "stars" are fireflies.
